Dark was the night – Compilation

L’organizzazione internazionale Red Hot, fondata nel 1989 con l’esclusiva finalità di raccogliere fondi per la lotta alla diffusione dell’AIDS attraverso la cultura pop, ha espletato puntualmente la sua azione attraverso compilation musicali a cadenza annuale, che hanno spesso coinvolto artisti mondiali di prim’ordine. La prima raccolta, “Red Hot + Blue” resta forse tuttora la più conosciuta, anche grazie a una delle ultime splendide interpretazioni degli U2, che per l’occasione reinterpretavano il classico di Coal Porter “Night And Day”. A quella raccolta ne sono seguite tante altre, quasi sempre “a tema” e popolate da più di un nome di grido, fino a quest’ultima, per la quale sono state fatte decisamente le cose in grande, così da celebrare degnamente il ventennale dell’organizzazione.
Il risultato è l’imponente doppio cd intitolato “Dark Was The Night” che, edito dalla prestigiosa etichetta 4AD, promette di emulare i fasti della prima compilation, raccogliendo in oltre due ore di musica tanti degli artisti più validi e in vista del mondo latamente “indie”, che contribuiscono con pezzi inediti e collaborazioni talvolta ardite.
