Con l’inizio della scuola superiore comincia “l’inferno” per gli studenti coreani. Il numero di ore di studio è altissimo, anche 21 ore al giorno, soprattutto durante l’ultimo anno a causa della preparazione al test di ingresso per l’università, il CSAT: da questo esame dipenderà il futuro di ogni studente e l’entrata o meno nelle più prestigiose università. La Corea del Sud ha il tasso di suicidi più alto del mondo industrializzato e un gran numero di suicidi riguardano studenti che cedono sotto la pressione dei loro lunghi studi e dei genitori per vogliono vederli entrare nelle selettive e elitarie università.

High school marks the beginning of extremely hard times for Korean students. Studying hours sometimes reach a peak of 21 hours per day, mostly during the last year, when students try hard to pass the University admission test, the CSAT: on the results of this test depend the future of every student. South Korea has the highest suicide rate of the industrialized world and many suicides are young students who break under the pressure of university tests and the will of parents who want their offspring to go to the most prestigious institutions.
